Welcome to Fair Partners!

Fair Trade Student Ambassadors Program

Fair Partners launched the first Fair Trade Student Ambassadors Program in town in October 2007. It aims at encouraging the university students to learn the cause of poverty and change the unfair system accordingly. The 20 selected ambassadors were from the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Institute of Education. They first received a series of trainings, including 4 interactive workshops and a training camp. In late 2008, they visited some fair trade producers groups in Thailand and learnt how fair trade had improved the producers’ livelihood. After mastering the knowledge and skills, the students initiated fair trade weeks in their respective campus to raise awareness on fair trade and make changes to the lives of poor and disadvantaged.

Fair Trade Student Ambassadors Program were co-organized by Fair Partners, the Hong Kong Institute of Education, the Centre of Development and Resources for Students of the University of Hong Kong and Fair Trade Voice, sponsored by Oxfam Hong Kong and the Centre of Development and Resources for Students of the University of Hong Kong.
